Old Santa Cruze Owner

Postby Rocky II » June 26th, 2019, 11:59 am

That's right. The boat is old and so am I. Too bad I have just found this site as I am coming to the end of my boating days. I bought the '78-'79 25ft. flybridge on lake Mead in 1990 with 150 hrs. on the motor. It now has about 1000 hrs. on it, has new heads w/hardened valves. and runs great. But I am not running as well.
The thought of putting this boat up for sale brings a tear to my eye as I have trailed it and boated all over the country with many memories. It's triple axle aluminum trailer handles it easily.

I have no clue as to how much to charge. To replace a boat like this is impossible. And similar boats are costly. I have added many items like 2 25 gallon fuel tanks which gives it a range of about 250 miles at 25 to 30 MPH. I need some advice as to pricing and sales.
Thanks everyone.

Welcome aboard. Take lots of pictures of it, make some notes for your kids/family. Relish the memories; they are priceless.

Unfortunately, that does nothing for the buyer. You aren't going to get much. I can't tell you what that would be, but not what it's worth to you. Sell it to somebody that has a child or two, give them a super deal, and know that you are creating another family's memories.
Leave a decent bottle of champagne or prosecco in the sink along with a "congrats" note.

Good Luck!
Thanks

Thanks. I do have a log of our adventures with the boat, but no kids or family. All will be lost.

A boat is always worth more to the seller than it is to the buyer. On the bright side you have many memories with this boat. When you do sell you will be selling to someone who will create more great memories in that same boat.

There is some satisfaction in that.

One thing you could do is google that particular model and year and see what they are selling for across the country. When I bought my 81 3007 there were a total of 5 listed including mine. The high listing was $24995 and the low listing was $11995. The seller of my 3007 was asking $19995. We settled on $17000.

Good luck selling yours.

I took your advice, and found a few Prices range from $7900 to 18000 Euro in France. Probably depending on condition. I still will have to work on it. Thanks again.
