:usa:

I recently purchased a used 1998 Carver 405 from a Hunter 336 Sailboat, as it will be a liveaboard vessel, and within the next year, it will get us started on the travel of the Great Loop, as I retired early with medical disability. I have spent 30 years in my career in information technology, from Windows 2.1 to Windows 7 and Windows 2012 Servers. I worked as a contractor with NASA Kennedy Space Center, and started with McDonnell Douglas, then in 1999, the company merged with The Boeing Company, and the work was to support the engineers on Space Station and NASA Payloads, which I can say I supported Hubble Telescope just to think back.

I worked the last 13 years with a small company called a.i. Solutions, Inc. out of Lanham MD. I was working with Windows Servers and IT Security as dual role, but managed the last 9 years just on IT Security for the NASA/Federal Government requirements to assess all of the launch systems, the telemetry systems, the video/audio systems that are used in the days of launching an unmanned rocket. Here, I was able to be part of the launch team that deployed many earth and planetary missions, including all three Mars Rovers, and the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, as well as our recent discoveries from Pluto, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus and Mercury planets. I had a tough job, but watching from the launch sites the successful missions that I was part of, it probably something no other could ever imagine or dream of. I was involved with SpaceX as I ended my career, and Blue Origins are now ramping up a reusable rocket from Cape Canaveral soon.

I look forward to being a yacht motorboat and traveling this beautiful planet.

Cool stuff and welcome aboard!

On the line of Hubble - when Hubble was having the mirror issue, way before security was paramount, we lived on Kent Island in Maryland. We took a weekday of with the son, and went driving toward DC.

We stumbled upon a Goddard site. I pulled in. Seemed like the place was deserted. We walked into a building, and there was some sort of a control room or monitoring room. A guy came out of there and asked what we wanted. I told we just stumbled in. So the guy brought us into the room and spent maybe a half hour showing my kid all this cool stuff, and live pictures from Hubble.
Very cool stuff.
Thanks
