New Carver 3607 Owner in New Bern. NC

Postby Bubbastump13 » September 10th, 2017, 9:41 pm

First time Carver owner, we've recently bought a 1982 Carver 3607 Aft Cabin. Its set with twin gas power plants, so this will be new for me too, having previously owned a single-screw diesel trawler. So far, I'm fairly impressed with the Carver's overall form and function. The interior is very durable and seem to hold its shape well, but their exposed deck materials seem to age less gracefully than other boats I've experienced in the past. We may spend weekends throughout the fall and coming winter enjoying its space and doing some exterior cleaning, refinishing and repairing as needed. I look forward to the DIY experience posted here in the forums.

Congrats and welcome aboard! I have the same 3607 model! Does yours have the "A" layout or "B" layout (with raised seating in salon)? Mine is still mostly stock, but I've done a few projects over the years... updating cushions and electronics. I have the 350HP Crusaders.

Welcome Bubba! Another NC guy here - now at Lake Norman, but originally from Goldsboro - I used to fish everywhere around New Bern - Trent, Neuse, creeks - all of it. Always thought New Bern was a hidden jewel in NC. You are right that the 3607 is a great boat - excellent space utilization and a classic layout and look. As you know, you are in Hatteras country there, and not a lot of Carvers around in my experience. Feel free to ask questions on this forum for anything that comes up - someone here probably knows the answer.

Welcome Aboard. I have the baby sister to your boat a 1981 3007 Aft Cabin model. From what I have seen it's just a smaller version of yours. Hope you have lot's of fun adventures aboard yours.

I am a carver wanabe. I currently have a Chris Craft 28 and am looking to find a small Carver Aft Cabin. I live in the Portland Oregon Area. I have a question. Does any one know if it is possible after the arch is down to have a Carver 300AC transported via trailer (low boy I assume ). That way I can expand my search area. Thanks Mike

Without removing the flybridge? I doubt it. Figure they'd have to have 10-11' of clearance above the water and then add about 2 feet for below the waterline (probably have to or want to remove props to get down to 2')... then add a bit for the trailer and a bit of ground clearance and you're at 14' pretty quick. You can remove the bridge but it's a bit more work
