Fridge on 2004 Carvee 466 MY

Postby Curly1 » April 14th, 2020, 10:55 am

Good day everyone on the Carver Forum.
We are new to the forum.
We bought our 2004 466MY last summer with the intention of doing the Great American Loop
this year, 2020. However, due to the current circumstances it looks like we will have to put it off
until 2021 because we are Canadians and will most likely not be able to make it thru the Illinois
River system before the lock closures.
We are thinking we will do the Down East Loop this summer which looks like an amazing journey.
Our question is the Sub Zero fridge leaks.
Does anybody on this forum have any suggestions.
We were thinking of replacing the seals that may help.
Another option would be to replace the fridge but may not be able to get the same size.
Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks
Grant and Sharon

In our area I would contact Bob at Northland Supply in Keswick, Ontario. 1-905-478-2244. He is a friend of mine and they will be able to advice or replacement. I would give them a call as they really know the stuff. They handle products for the marine and RV industry.

Good Luck.

Curly, are you talking about an air leak through the door seal or water leaking from under the unit? An air leak can be remedied by replacing the door seal and ensuring the door is closing squarely and tight. This will cause a build up of ice on the evaporator sooner than normal and will degrade efficiency. A water leak, unless you have a built-in ice maker would be from the defrost cycle. In most cases, it would drain from the evaporator usually through a tube to the bottom of the unit into a tray where it eventually evaporates. If there is a tray, you must also ensure there is adequate air flow or eventually the water level will flow over the top of the tray. Sometimes the tube gets clogged and overflows thus leaking elsewhere, or the tube breaks.

Hi Viper:
Thank you for your response.
Ours is an air leak, we are pretty sure.

Check the door alignment when it's closed and the condition of the door seal. If the seal needs to be replaced, you can check with Bob at Northland or give these guys a call:

Most 466 came with a "Marvel" 24' fridge and a "Marvel" 24' freezer from the factory. Your 466 has a sub zero? does your unit look like this?
