1988 Carver Santego 3867 38"

Postby Bbeauty » October 14th, 2021, 3:30 pm

Just registered and in the throws of
negotiating the purchase of a Carver Santego 3867

It is coming down to locating the 265 gallon fuel tank..
The current owner does not know her it is and the surveyor could not locate the tank unless he tears out the flooring.
We need advise if possible on where the tank is
located

She has one fill spout is on the starboard side and one fuel gage and no switch to chage readings so owner says it has only one tank. It has no aft cabin so engines are aft as is the generator.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
R Gault

A tank that size has to be located in the center of the bilge. It is most likely just forward of the engines, maybe behind on the forward side of a bulkhead. There should be a couple of hatches in the salon or steps that give you access to tank sensor. The water tank will also be in the same area, probably just forward of the gas tank. Gas tank is metal. If you have the owners manual, there should be a diagram for tank locations in there. Good luck and welcome. 8-) er

Bbeauty, welcome aboard and I hope all goes well on the Santego. The fuel tank is located in the middle of the salon, in front of the galley counter/bar. It is a single tank. If you move the bench on the starboard side you will find they’re the fuel fill hose connects to the tank. The tank should have a large wood hatch under the carpet that is screwed down. Your water tanks (there should be two) are a bit forward of the fuel tank and to the left of the galley counter/bar. One will been under the parkay flooring in the galley and the other hatch will be under the carpet.

I’m a transporter and have been trying to get onto the Carver website to find the specs on this year and model so we can accurately quote the move. Does anyone happen to have the overall height from keel to highest point ( or bridge clearance and draft) for this vessel?

GLHaulers1, per Carver her draft is 42”. On mine the air draft is around 15’ with the radar tower installed. Over all length is 44’, 11” with a beam of 14’

See if the owner has the manual. The manuals show the location of every tank, port, and what is under each hatch.
