Curious as to why exhaust was reduced to 3 inch off riser then adapted to 4 inch instead of using 4 inch the entire system.

Welcome aboard. That's unusual. Usually it's the same all the way through, or the size increases after the engine or muffler. What sizes are at both ends of the mufflers? For that size boat, I assume you're either big block gassers or diesel. In both cases you should have minimum 4" all the way, even larger if diesel depending on displacement. Wonder if that's factory or if it's been modified for some reason. A call to Carver would be beneficial as they can look up the original equipment based on your hull number. You should also go on their website and see if you can download the manual for your model.

BTW, it would help if you added your model to your profile so we know what we're dealing with when you make an inquiry. Is this a 4207?

Welcome to the forum.....also if you could get a quick pic of this it might help to see if original......may be, and only a guess here, something for exhaust reversion ???...... :beergood:
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.
