I am splashing on May 7th. Hopefully by next weekend I can get some bottom paint on. The surface temperature of the hull is still to cold to apply paint - the thermal mass of the boat is keeping it cold to the touch.

That....and I'm afraid to pull the shrink wrap off i ncase we get another dump lol...

The ground around ours is going to be like a swamp after all this melts. I also need some decent temp to compound the hull before launch. I am still hoping for a pre victoria day launch..... fingers and toes crossed.

Splashed my 28 Carver this morning. After checking the bilge,I hit the starter on the starboard engine and it fired right up but didn't sound as quiet as normal. I went down and checked it out. Sure enough,it wasn't pumping water.Pulled the hose off and was still full of pink antifreeze.I figured I cooked an impeller but it was fine.(Only a year old too) I tried to blow back through the hose and it was hard and then it let go and blew bubbles out the bottom of the boat. i went to put the hose back on and muddy water came out .Hooked it back up and all good. Now for the port engine; cranking....,no fuel.Pulled the flame arrrester off and acceleration pump was stuck down.I poured some gas in the bowl vent and it popped up so quick 3 pumps of the throttle and she lit right off. Heres to a great boating season !

They let me bring mine over to my slip.
They are still looking for the drowning victim though.

Well it was a wonderful warm day here in NY, almost 60 degrees, so I thought might as well get her uncovered and let the rain coming in a couple days wash her down! To my surprise my bow had been hit and bent our bow pulpit railing!!! I'm thinking travel lift? I'm thinking this is going to be an interesting conversation with the marina owners and help?

Unless they pulled out at a very tight angle, that would be pretty difficult to do with a travel lift unless they hit it passing by later. If it was hit with the lift, that's a close call, she could have been knocked over. Look for scratches on the rail. Another possibility is snow load. Did they install a ridge pole right to the end of the bow rail and was it supported by a leg or was it sitting on the bow rail?
