2001 Carver 570 Voyager

I am going to look at a 2001 Carver 570 Voyager in Stuart, Florida in 2 weeks and would appreciate any advice anyone is willing to give me. I don't know much about Carvers so I'd appreciate heads up on any known problems I should be on the look out for. i.e soft spots that are known to happen, windows that leak, known electrical problems that occur with the model, etc... Don't know that there's anything specific to Carver but you may find concerns common to any brand. A lot depends on the care previous owners have taken and the conditions she was put in and run in. Check the deck under the dinghy, I've run into a couple that had to be repaired due to soft cores. Good luck with your search, hope she's the one. Let us know how it goes.

Hello byresch. Here is a link to the marketing brochure from 2001 for the entire model series. In the last few pages, you can read info on construction techniques and concepts. Also, if you have the hull number on the vessel, you can ask Carver to reference the history from build to now for any common issues among that model or recalls for whatever purpose. They maintain the construction logs for each vessel produced. If you need an email address or phone number, let me know. Good luck! She looks a little stern heavy in the pics, compared to production pics, but there could be a lot of reasons for that.

[Alaska 530 Voyager]

Looks like a great boat. My 530 is very similar in build and design to the 570. My stern is low like that with full fuel. The massive swim step slaps violently on the water when at rest on the 570 and 530. You'll get used to it in time. The stabelizers should be awesome. Not common on the Voyagers from what I've seen. I love my 530. Wanted the 570 but have slip restrictions. You may spill the anchor chain out and check the bottom of the locker. Mine was broke out from wave impact when I bought her. The upper windshield around the bridge will allow water intrusion if the canvas yanks the screws loose. Keep the sump and sump pump clean and in good working order or it will malfunction and spill grey water into the bildge. Not sure what they're called but check the corner window trim where the front window meets the first side window on each side. They tend to come loose. Keep the pilothouse side door serviced, the lower track fills with dirt and such which causes problems. These are a few things that would've helped me out early on, had I known. I personally think they are built well and perform great. Hope this helps a little. Keep us posted and ask away if you have any other questions. Dave.

One more thing. There is a 60' Hatteras in Stuart named Benedetto. The owner is from Chicago, name is Dave. He had a Carver until last fall, and did a bunch of renovation to it. He could be a good source, as he has been down to the bones in his Carver. er
