At my marina most of the boats are in their slips. Still a few on the hard.

Our marina is down a bit on tenants, but at least boat traffic is starting to pick up. More likely due to the weather finally stabilizing for this area. Been windy a lot with 3 to 4 ft waves most of the time. I am supposed to be getting a new neighbor tomorrow. A new 38' World Cat boat, custom built to accommodate it's owner who is in a wheel chair. He is looking for someone to cruise him around, and I will volunteer to run those twin 425HP Yammies. 8-)

Who would have thought that just a short while ago all the marinas were closed etc......Today, the sight of all the boats floating at their slips is surprising to me as I for one did not expect to see this many boats in this year.

There are a few still in the parking lots though, but not nearly as many as I would have guessed. It almost looks like any other year. There have been some red flags just this past week though, with some cases in our area increasing. Many folk have masks on when out and about, us included, but as observed, many at the marina seem to have become lax about the distancing now......

I sure hope all this goes well, including our boat sale......

Yeah we pulled anchor around 2:30 from Beausoleil around 2:30 and ran into that storm. Wasn't too bad on the bay other than the rain. Timed it to hit the dock once It passed, but the wind was still gusting and of course blowing off the dock. got tied up without too much trouble other than the dock hand letting the stern rope slack within a foot of hitting my neighbor, but I was sure glad to have the new Sideshift bow thruster installed.

Our Marina actually has a bunch of newbies this year. Talking to some of them, this is their first boat. They wanted something do do with the families that would be safe.
That's all great but,,,,, they all want to congregate on the docks in the evenings. Don't get me wrong, I am usually part of those "meetings", but trying to keep a bit of space this year. They are all elbow to elbow. Tried to be a part of some of the night life while keeping some distance, but everyone keeps moving closer. I believe Saturday evening, I kept stepping back, must have moved a total of 25 feet or more, and they kept moving with me.
Maybe its my magnetic personality? Not!

Got a bunch of newbies on the north wall of my marina where I keep my boat. Going to make some new friends I guess.

This applies to Ontario only!!!

As much as I hate to bring this thread back, I did read something a few minutes ago that I hope is a simple journalistic error. In this link there is a sentence that says one cannot
occupy tents or other camping structures, such as trailers, recreational vehicles and watercraft equipped for overnight accommodation
Please say this is not the case. :help:

Source. https://www.ofah.org/covid19closures/

EDIT: After reading this more throughly, this only applies to crown land.

Yes, it applies to crown land but several municipalities are already restricting any overnight camping and boat launching. (I think the article quoted mentioned Port Hope and Haldimand County). I'm sure other municipalities are doing the same and it won't change until the provincial emergency restrictions are lifted.

Well, I was at the marina today waxing away when the Manager advised that some marinas in the area had been spot checked for people being on the property. He had also just been provided the relevant sections applicable to marinas. After my review, bottom line is boat owners are not permitted to be on marina property to repair, service or splash their boats. Recreational boating is a no, no, unless your boat is your primary residence. However, the marina can provide all the normal services as normal.

This is to protect marina staff and reduce the spread, and I totally get that.

This is supposed to be in place till the end of the lockdown on May 20th, 2021.

Needless to say, I left the marina, ass in hand, and I now have a boat that is half waxed, bottom not painted and mechanical not yet ready for splash day. :censored:

Now the marina said they will prep my boat for a fee. I am of the view that I don’t need a boat in the water that I cant go to, so I will just wait for the lockdown to be lifted. Who knows, maybe they will drop some of the conditions.

I actually snuck in to the Marina today with my wife. Beds are made, boat is stocked. Not waxed but ready to splash non the less. If I could just get her into the water, Quebec is a stones throw away where none of the boating restrictions apply, not even last spring when things were out of hand. I have a feeling this is going to be a mid June splash at best.
