Marina Closed due to Covid -19 !

Postby Midnightsun » March 18th, 2020, 12:58 pm

This news really sucks. I figured I would go to the boat to start some prep work if things get slow at work. got this email a few minutes ago.

Crysler Park Marina’s priority is to protect the health, safety, and well-being of our customers and staff in these challenging times.

The Marina is currently closed for the season and gate locks and codes have been changed. There will be no access to your vessel and/or equipment from March 18 to April 6. Please ensure that your service providers are aware of this situation. We will work together to navigate this developing, global situation and contain the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to communicate with our customers as the situation evolves.

Cheers, Hans

Jeepers Hans! Any chance you can contact them for access on an appointment type basis? This seems a little unreasonable, seeing as there will be such a limited number of people doing prep work. Just got a notice from my bank also. No face to face contact till 4-13, which sucks because I do some transactions that require signature in person. Glad I have access to my boat. Small storage, owned by private individual. Oh well, good luck. Let's hope that April date does not get pushed to July. 8-) er

Not sure what they will do but it does not look good. This is not where I keep my boat during the summer, only where I store it during the winter. Problem here is they are part of Parks Ontario or a provincial park if you prefer. Being a "Park" that deals with the public, I am pretty sure the rules are the same for all that work for Parks Ontario regardless if this is an exception being it is a marina. My hopes are rather low for them opening up to us even after the April date they have mentioned. I do know an insider there that may be able to keep me posted on updates.

Bottom line is I believe they need to adhere to this. https://news.ontario.ca/ene/en/2020/3/s ... nse-t.html

I have a nagging feeling this will be more the rule than the exception. Our marina says they are going to put boats in, but in reality where will we use them and with who, when everything closes. The estimates are getting longer with each passing day. I sincerely hope they are wrong.

Seriously considering leaving the boat in the parking lot covered and all put to bed for the year.

Stay safe....
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

It may become an issue if you cannot fuel up and Marinas are not staffed. Today Ikea closed all it's stores, My marina closed, They closed the Canadian/American border for people not cargo and the list goes on. Everything is coming to a halt rather quickly. I had a late project happening in the US which was suppose to start 2 days ago, was put on ice for now. My daughter figured she would order food on line, the normal tomorrow delivery is not until Monday now as more and more are doing the same. Heck even the UPS guy was wearing gloves, opened the door and booted the package a few feet inside, waved from the outside and left. Hang on tight everyone, this is going to be a rough ride for all.

Really sucks Hans. We will have to wait and see with our marina since they are private. No news from them either. So for me, it's business as usual. A brand new Audi dealer beside where I worked closed until further notice also, Where is all this going? We are all in the wait and see ordeal. My parts to rebuild my windlass is in Odgensburg. Can't get to that either.

That's just nuts. No reason to do that and I'd be **ssed if our marina pulled that. I was looking forward to going out this Sunday to start some prep, as it's supposed to be nice. It would be good mentally and physically for folks to get out and about, just not with other folks. Seems like it wouldn't be a big deal to keep some gas pumps running too.

Here in Michigan all the boat clubs are closed along with all the restaurants, bars and such. Not sure about my marina. I plan to go there on Friday to see what their plans are for opening up for the season.

In New York State all 'non-essential' business's must close effective 12pm Sunday. My marina tells me that they will have limited hours from Wednesday to Saturday. I called the local West Marine and they are considered 'essential' so are open, however with limited hours. The local bank has no lobby access, only atm or drive up access.
Gee.... I wonder about the liquor stores? Seems 'essential' to me as we live through the plague!

We're getting closer to that in Michigan. The Governor just ordered more businesses to close starting Sunday. Barbers are among the closings. I'm glad I got my hair cut on Friday.
