Update on Carver resource attempt.

Postby Cooler » September 27th, 2021, 10:50 am

Hello All! Finally was able to connect with Brian and Pat, customer service guys from Carver who we all appreciated. They are back with the surviving company, Cruisers Yachts, and working through the transition. Unfortunately, they have been "instructed" to not entertain inquiries for Carver legacy information. They are disappointed, but it is what it is. Phone numbers, email addresses, etc., have all been changed to avoid contact. I am working on getting one of my other contacts to register in the forum. Will see him tomorrow, and walk him through sign up process. We chatted about this last week, and he agreed if all else failed, he would step up. He was with Carver for a long time, and has some knowledge we should find helpful when those "need help" issues pop up. As we all know, previous owners change things, but at least he should be able to help with standard factory production techniques. Happy cruising! 8-) er

That's a great effort you make! And how kind of him to offer his knowledge.

As I understand your posting, the person in question is not an avid forum-goer so perhaps a helpful eye of everyone here to moderate questions and remarks thrown by newcomers or users who don't know this. I've seen it happen that a well willing user met a barrage of questions for details that were easily found on the forum but because a new post is easier, the search function was put aside. The person (a very experienced mechanic for a certain type of car) soon left. Just saying: save the specialist questions for such people, deflect the simple ones.

How about the documentation that was on the website, any ideas on how to get this accessible for users?

You'd think they'd want to take advantage of it!!

Having a direct line to avid boaters could also help get the message spread on new boats and technologies coming down the pike and it would be good to get that information disseminated. These folks don't need to JUST respond to Carver queries. They don't have to be salesmen either... just folks who pass on interesting tidbits of "insider" knowledge that might make some future boat buyers consider their options and include Cruisers and MarineMax in their decisions.

I agree. You would think Cruisers and MarineMax would prefer to have direct connection to thousands of Carver owners so they could position future production right in front of future boat buyers, ( as Cruisers being the heir apparent ), but that is just me. If I buy another boat, I will remember who turned their back on me. Way too many boat builders out there. K C Stock would have been thinking in an entirely different direction. Oh well, we still have each other, and I will get Mike to set up an account on here. Watch for his intro soon. 8-) er

Pat was a great resource for old Carver parts and cross reference numbers. Does all this mean this is no longer available?

That is part of what I am trying to accomplish. Mike, the guy I am trying to get signed up in this forum, is really tight with Pat and Brian. So if Mike does not know something, he can do an end around and get info from Pat or Brian. Mike is just a little nervous because he thinks this may be really time consuming. I just have to convince him expectations will be low. More to come. 8-) er
