Flying Bridge Throttles

Postby swodog6289 » June 13th, 2014, 9:19 am

Got a 1986 3607 and the throttle controls are tough and not very smooth to operate.

Anyone rebuilt the throttle controls before?

It's probably the cables.

I read somebody's solution to replacing them.

Disconnect the cable and cable end. Slip a 2 foot long hose that just fits over the outer sleeve. Clamp the hose to the sleeve with a hose clamp. Fill the hose with ATF fluid. Plug the open end of the hose with a hose barb. Connect an air regulator to the hose barb. Apply 2-3 psi air pressure. Watch the other end of the cable for the oil to start seeping out.Disconnect the air.

Does it work? I have no idea but it's probably worth a shot!
Thanks
Fred

Wow...that is some great thinking! I like it. That one will stay in the back of my head.
Thanks,
Steve
