Is that a USCG requirement or just an ABYC requirement? I don't think I've ever heard of that under the USCG, just that there needs to be "sufficient" forced ventilation.

In my older copy of the ABYC rules it says more than one blower may be used, but there is no requirement I can see for more than one, if one will suffice.

KM, I believe I read on a boat US article that it was a USCG requirement. It looks like either I misread or Boat US was mistaken (most likely my mistake). A quick search shows an individual blower is required for each "compartment" not each engine.

Thanks for the information.
Could you please provide the Code requiring two (2) blowers that you refer to?
I have researched the USCG Boat Builder's Handbook; and the powered ventilation requirement is based solely on engine compartment Cubic Feet (less the cubic ft space occupied by permanently installed equipment). No mention is made of the number of engines; only CFM requirement based on space dimension. They state that this CFM requirement can be satisfied by One (1) or more blowers - as desired.
The CFM provided by the 4" blower that I installed exceeds the USCG requirement for my engine space.
Additionally; I created a wiring circuit that allows me to operate the Blower manually prior to starting either the main engines or the generator, and once the engines (and/or generator) start, the circuit switches to "automatic" and the blower continues to run as long as the engines (and/or generator) are operating - regardless of the position of the "manual switch". I just leave the Manual Switch enabled so that when I shut down the engine the blower continues to run until I turn the manual switch off.
