Hi again...well we have looked at some boats....the 370 voyager we really like the layout, moisture meter showed the regular issues, deck fittings. windlass etc....one thing ,vague head odor, can that tank be removed easily ??How about the fuel tanks?? Surprising lack of keel on this boat.

Ramsport you were right on about the stairs on the afts, we did not like the climb from the platform up at all,..inside and bridge was ok though, but we would like to be able to see out from the dinette.

Well the process continues..the 390 aft with the cockpit...so we have a new contender that seems to address the ladder issue and we get our transom door......anything to look for here, going to crawl around one soon....Mike

Mike, almost none of the Carver line (actually I can't think of one) have a keel. If you are looking at the 390 cockpit, also look at the 430 cockpit. Same design, just bigger.

Actually, the 430 has a keel. It is a 38 Aft Cabin with a cockpit grafted on, whereas the 390/400/404 cockpits are 355/356 with a cockpit grafted on. The 430 is a 14 foot beam and is a much older and less efficient design both in packaging and functionality. Don't get me wrong, it's a great boat, just an old design.

Good morning guys.....well we inspected a 390, nice boat overall but before I go any further, maybe Ramsport could you answer a question I have....this boat has a 3 to 4" list to port side....is this normal....water tank was apparently just filled, but just seems a little much....

Friends of ours have a 38 aft and I did notice there is a keel and more deadrise .....MIke

A slight list would be considered normal. A 3 to 4" list is excessive. I would look to the fuel being unbalanced in the side tanks. The water tanks are typically centered, or close to it, or balanced with a crossover hose from side to side. I think more research into why is needed.

The 390/400/404 Cockpit Motor Yachts have 3 fuel tanks. Two are saddle tanks outboard of each engine and the third is an auxiliary tank located under the cockpit floor. There are fuel selector valves to operate each engine from the tank on it's side of the boat, or the aux tank located in front of the port engine. If you have the owners manual, the info should be in there with schematics

Mike, email me at sales@lyndongreene.ca and I'll give you the scoop. Nothing wrong with the boat, it's the owner.
