My question, why do you want a stern anchor? If just to hold the boat in place for a midday lunch, ok. Not a good idea to use one to anchor out overnight.
If you get one, depends on the type of bottom you're dropping anchor in.

It is just for lunch or in a tight space for the day with other boats. All Lake Michigan boating so mostly sand or mud.
Thank you for the help!

On my 405 in the lakes in tennessee the wind is all over the place most of the time. Got soft mud bottom. In the past Ive played around with a Dan style and plow both at times were my second and spare anchors so I used what was already on board. In my opinion it's just more of a pita. To get any set you got to take the anchor out on a float or whatever and drop it so you have some scope to it. Then get back on the boat pull it tight and cleat it off then in a hour or so you'll find yourself swinging back and forth again maybe not much but then defeated the whole purpose. Your actually working the anchor back and forth not really designed for alot of back and forth.

Here in the northern Chesapeake we often anchor in fairly shallow water with sandy bottom. We always raft with several other boats. I have a Danforth 25 bow anchor and a Danforth 15 stern anchor. We are often the boat everyone is rafted to and have been able to hold several boats even in severe thunderstorms.

Again, we anchor in shallow water, low tide 4'

Delta style for front, no problem. Folding anchor for rear, always using it. stops the swing.

I vote for a Mantus Anchor. Great all around anchor for a variety of bottoms. Sets and resents quickly. Also, it can be disassembled for storage with a small footprint. I just returned from a one week trip up the Hudson River and saw plenty of Mantus anchors on boats doing the loop.
