1988 Santgo Tonnage???

Postby Craig_B » July 18th, 2019, 11:15 am

I am trying to register for a MMSI# for my VHF radio.
The form is asking what "Gross tonnage (vessel's internal capacity in tons)"

Any ideas?

Oh and how about this one, "Capacity for person on board (maximum number of persons on board"

Thanks

This is what i found using google.

For a boat with a simple sailing hull: Gross Tonnage = (.5 x L x B x D) divided by 100.
So for me i believe the numbers would be (.5x26x11x2) = 2 Tons? ish.

Sound correct to anyone?

I believe D is up to the gunnel. How much water could the hull hold is what they are lookin at.
Thanks

hmmmm yes I think you are correct. So a better guess would be mabye 6 feet for D?
Making the tonnage 8.5?

Net tonnage works from the calcs previously listed.
I may have cheated with the gross tonnage and used the numbers from my USCG Documentation sheet! So am I am not sure how they come up with gross. :-D
