performance

So our 440 has twin cat 3126s rated at 420 hp each. We can get 17 mph at 2350 rpms. A marina friend has a Sea Ray 480 with 3116 Cats. Not sure of hp but it's pretty close.

His boat easily attains 25 mph.

I don't understand.

Hull design may very well be a contributing factor.

That is interesting, I think the 3116 has 350hp......is the 480 a bridge or a dancer style ?
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

Is 2350 the cruise rated RPM for that motor? Can it go higher or is that maxed out?

bud37 it is a flybridge. Plus I remember the owner telling me it's weight is 40K plus while ours is 30K+.

km1125 - 2400 is the "suggested reduced rpm cruising speed" according to the CAT manual.

thanx
