Carpet Replacement

Postby Gary Rose » August 29th, 2019, 9:49 pm

I have a 2000 356 need to replace carpet inside boat any suggestions ? I have been looking for marine carpet people to replace it but no luck so far. Should i hire a house carpet person ? The marine carpets that I have found are all snap in rubbber backed cheap looking carpet. I would like a nice plush carpet. Any help is appreciated

You don't need to use marine carpet inside the boat. Your original inside carpet is not marine, just standard residential.

Couldn't hurt to get regular carpet guy around to have a look, as Tom said it is just regular carpet in there now. Nothing special just some odd shapes..... :-D
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

Not just odd shapes, but hatches that need carpet wrapped around the edges. If you do get new carpet, you have hatches in the aft stateroom that really should have carpet cutouts just like the engine hatches in the salon.

The residential guys use those tack strip and knee kicker gizmo don't they? I wouldn't think you'd want that on your boat necessarily.

Good point. No tack strips allowed.

I've had the carpet changed in my ex 4207 and my current 3697.
In both cases, local carpet shops did the work. If you are in a harbor town, most likely the locals have done it before.
I used a frizay (sp?) Indoor carpet.

I forgot the brand of what was used for the aft deck of the 4207, and the cockpit of the 3697, and the bridge on both. It has a rubber type backing. The local guys did that as well.
Thanks

Did it in our 360ss. Used a local carpet center and their pros. 5 hours and 2 guys, What a great job they did. All glued down and cut to perfection. And, They removed all the old carpet , great workers.

Do you remember the company that did your installation?
