Thanks for your statement. The material under the rub rail seems to be wood right? So not really a severe issue and I could send the wooden strip and repaint it.

As the owner wrote that the paint was applied completly new I guess it included the interprotect layer.

Thanks a lot to Viper too .... I will think about this marine / automotive thing.
Up to now I had the opinion that in fresh water it doesn't really matter besides the cooling of the exhaust...

The differences are way more than just cooling concerns. If they don't incorporate marine hardware, they are dangerous. Hopefully this isn't the case.

First - Not as simple as sanding and painting. Due to that degradation, the joint under that wood could be compromised. There is wood at that joint, connecting the topside to the hull. Have that surveyor run a moisture meter all along the rub rail.

Viper - I did not mean to criticize Chrysler engines. Lot's of those still running. My intention was focused on the "leaking" part of the description. Stay healthy all! 8-) er
