Need obsolete parts

Postby jema » August 26th, 2020, 9:19 am

I need to find the vent covers for intake/exhaust on the side of my 1991 430 CPMY. They measure OD 17 1/4“ x 2 1/2” The inside (hole size) is 16” x 1 7/8”. There are 8 in total covering both sides. Any ideas where I might start looking. I’m in Canada.

Thank you. Those ones are a bit over-sized. I'm trying to avoid modifying the hole.

See these check on the specs listed. . 8 oems maybe impossible or costly to find. These are the same overall length and will fit in the oem cutouts with no mods. purchasing 8 to be new all around. https://www.go2marine.com/Sea-Dog-Louve ... OgQAvD_BwE

That looks like the ticket g36! I was going to suggest going to metal ones, the plastic ones fade and get brittle so fast.

Jema .....is there a name or part number on those old ones ?

I think most anything you find used or a salvage yard would probably need some sort of resto to them ( paint etc )

This might require some fitting to get the right look you are after.
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

The trick for the plastic ones is to paint them with high quality paint, they will never yellow and will last a lifetime since the plastic is now sealed from UV light which is what kills them over time. Did just that to a prior boat as they really were yellowed and looked pretty bad.
