Sharp Carausel Convection Oven - DOA

Postby BostonDan » November 18th, 2020, 12:22 am

Sharp Carousel Oven display is not working. Time to replace. However does anyone have the maximum measurements of the opening or size of a replacement? There has to be someone that has replaced this unit.

Hoping to replace with a Dometic Convection Microwave as the dimensions are just about the same.

And before you ask i don't have access to galley until at least march 2021.

thanks!

The display usually can be repaired by re-soldering the connections and reheating the ribbon cable to get the leads (carbon traces attached to the ribbon cable) to make good contact. There are videos on YouTube about how to do this if you have a soldering iron and a steady hand.
Just a thought if you want to just try and repair.

Hi, What is the model number of the Sharp microwave/convection oven you are replacing (the old one)? I ask because we have a Sharp in the boat we recently bought and it has a cracked plastic piece around the door and we cannot find anywhere that sells the part. If the model is the same as ours, we would love to buy the door from you. That should be easier than trying to get the plastic trim piece off of the door. We would appreciate it if you could check the model and let us know.

Thanks.

The Sharp microwave/convection oven we have is an R-1850. Just the plastic trim on the door is broken, but the microwave works OK. If anyone is thinking of throwing away their same old microwave we would be glad to buy the door or just the trim from the door if you can get those off. Thanks.
