C52 2017 Salvage

Postby Ckirkeby » May 30th, 2021, 10:33 am

I am interested in a 2017 C52 fly bridge that ran a ground on a sandbar in the Illinois river. Cabins took water half way up as well as engine room. Anybody have experience with what challenges might be most costly? I assume engines are salvageable from actions taken, so question is on the other electrical systems, etc. Anybody have first hand knowledge on this boat. https://www.galatiyachts.com/yachts/det ... 2/46/lq02/

If you were closer to Michigan I'd help for sure. Bring it back to life.

Freshwater - you have a good shot. So long as it it is way dirt cheap.
Thanks

It'll be pricey for sure. Engines might run but if the starters, alternators, control boxes, etc. were under water, they'll need to be replaced eventually even if they seem okay right now. The potential for electrical gremlins for the duration of her life is high. Also consider other major components like the generator, especially the generator/electrical side of it. There's also air conditioners, thrusters, chargers, and not to mention the woodwork/cabinetry and soft goods that could get really costly to replace.

What damage was done as a result of the grounding; running gear, fiberglass, etc.?
