Carver 3326

Postby TimMN » August 13th, 2021, 8:06 am

Just picked up a 1980 Carver 3326. What engines did Thea e come with? They look like a Ford engine? Got it for next to nothing but the starboard engine over heats at higher speed. At idle in the slip it is ok.

If the distributer is in the front of the engine its a ford 302 or 351. If its at the back on the engine its a chevy 305 or 350.
in 1980, it could be any of the above.
The first thing I would do is replace your raw water impeller.

I would also replace the thermostat. If the original bowl type stat is in there, it could be clogged up with rust. 8-) er

Just as important as who made the block…what brand is the engine? Mercruiser, Volvo, Crusader, etc. I’m guessing, most likely, Mercruiser.
