How to remove sectional sofa from Carver 3807

Postby garytheguard » April 20th, 2014, 4:10 pm

I have a 1989 Carver 3807, It has the standard "Carver Custom Furniture" that includes a bucket chair and a two piece sectional sofa bed. Does anyone know how to get these out of the boat? I looked to see if there was an obvious way to disassemble these sofas but without pulling off fabric or lining I couldn't find it. Assembled there is no way that these will fit through the cabin door. I am interested in having these recovered or replaced with something new so I have to get them out of the cabin. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Probably no help here, but in our 4207 we had to remove the entire cabon door to get the fridge out. It gives you and extra 2 inches or so.
For the couch, you'll probably have to stand it up on end and put the back or bottom through first.

But this is all guessing - maybe somebody here has done this on a 38.

Or just have it reupholstered in place.
Thanks

The backrest "should" come off of the sectional. If not, I have no clue. They made their own furniture for a while, then switched to FlexSteel...I know the later comes apart, I'm not sure about the in house made furniture

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have to take a closer look at the backrest;if not removing the cabin door may be the answer. Thanks again...Gary

I see this post is several years old, so probably too late for your case. But for anyone else in the future, I just finished taking the L-shaped sofa out of my 1998 Carver 405. The sofa comes apart into smaller and lighter pieces quite easily. Turn the sofa over, and there are bolts going through the plywood and into the arms of the sofa, which then come off. The back of the corner section just lifts off after the arms are removed. There are many screws underneath holding various parts to the steel bed frame which after removing everything comes apart. Hope this helps someone one day.

I am now looking for the correct Carver vinyl upholstery to match the dinning seating. If anyone has any information on where to find it I would appreciate it.
