Handling qualities of the 325/326 short aft cabin models

Postby BigTex68 » April 2nd, 2024, 8:52 pm

Considering a 2000 326. Have read some less-than-flattering reports about it being top-heavy and unstable. I've read reports of considerable bobbing motions, even at dock/anchor. I realize these boats are floating condos, but is the stability really this bad? Carver sure seems to have sold many of this design over the years for the handling to be so terrible.

I've been on a couple of these and not sure I'd ever describe them as "unstable".

However, if you put everyone up on the bridge, it's certainly going to influence the feel of the boat. I had an older 36' aft cabin and with 6-7 heavier folks on the bridge it was definitely a noticeable difference. If it wasn't already comfortable with the boat and its stability, I might have thought that was a problem.
