I have a 2003 396MY and the ice maker is very easy to remove, screws are accessible from the the front and it slides right out. Your ice maker looks different and could be that it has already been replaced at some point?

I am thinking about replacing the ice maker on my 2000 396 with a refrigerator. Can anyone provide a brand and model for such a replacement and whether there are any issues with such a change? Thanks.

Theres others that have done it on here, i still like my ice. There would be no issues except finding one to fit the hole or close to it minimize the alteration. If you want to run 12v/120v you'll have to run a dc wire to the area but this change is very doable.

Just bumping this back up because there were several posts that referred to replacing the icemaker with a refrigerator but no one replied with any specific brands/models that would fit or have similar dimensions. My wife and I want to swap to a fridge so any insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've had the my Raritan Ice maker out 5 times in my 396 Carver during the past 2 weeks. The only thing that holds it in are the phillips head screws on the ince maker flange. It is a tight fit. Pule one side an inch at a time. If it gets stuck, lift from the bottom because there are cabinet screws on the bottom of the ice maker that catch on the bottom of the opening.
Rock one side then the other then lift, repeat process.
I needed to take it out to change the the mechanism that make the ice. While I was at it I change the pitted bar sink faucet.
That was weird due to 15 MM tubing and 15 mm push to fit plumbing connectors
