Thruster Getting Weaker

Postby Midnightsun » August 10th, 2023, 7:32 am

Over the last month or so my bow thruster has been getting weaker and weaker to the point where it has very little power left. Obviously something is not right. Voltage and power to the unit is fine. Anyone know where I should start? Clueless on thrusters but guess I will learn quickly.

Thruster is a Side-Power unit. Found this but not helpful for my issue.

Also found this which may be applicable to me but would like some confirmation.

Sorry to hear that, but I guess you have to realize that you are getting older and things don't work the same... :-D ,

This is the unit. At least there is easy access.

After reading this, it sure does seem like I may have stuck motor brushes that need to be cleaned. https://ip42035-34.blogspot.com/2015/11 ... 5-bow.html

Have you done a voltage drop test while the thruster is running?

After a voltage check there is an issue with the starboard engine/bow thruster bank. For whatever reason it seems to not be charging while under way or on shore power. I do have an auxiliary charger that I plugged in and it seems to be charging now. Hmmm, really confused as to what may be going on here.

Check to see if any of your Victron stuff has an internal fuse....

I believe the problem was some settings on the Victron DC to DC charger were screwed up by your truly. Did a factory reset on both and hopefully the issue is resolved.
