Moss in window tracks

Postby Wauchopia » May 17th, 2015, 9:09 am

I have a new to me 3807 with moss growing in the tracks of all of the sliding windows. I had the same problem on my 3207. The problem with both models is removing the glass to clean the tracks. Any idea how to get the glass out or how to clean the tracks with the glass in?

I just hose it off from above with the city water pressure hose. It eventually goes away with enough flushing.
The moss is probably growing because the drain slots are completely or partially plugged. No water/no growth.
Lotsa of flooding with the hose cleans the slots and the slides out.
Thanks

It could be airborne organic material that must be killed with a bleach solution, to prevent it from growing back. Much like mold, it cannot simply be cleaned or hosed off. On a similar topic, the black spots on fibreglass, particularly in the diamond or no-skid patterns, is mold, and must be killed with bleach.

I have never used bleach on any of my vessels.
I would not suggest it at all.
But if you do I would soak a towel with it and rub and then houe it off for a long time.
Thanks

Re bleach, Have you had bad experiences with it, for boat use? I have had success with a bleach/water solution on no-skid mold. My neighbour has also successfully used a weak bleach solution on his sunbrella to attack mold, and he said there were no negative effects from doing so.

thank you,

Steve

i had the same problem. I used a pressure machine like the one you used sometimes for your car and it did the job very well

I used a popcicle stick to scrape it out then vacuumed it up.
