Deck Rail Hardware

Postby paboater76 » December 23rd, 2016, 2:56 pm

Hello,

First post here. I have scoured the internet looking for replacement deck rail fittings for my 1984 Carver 3207 Aft Cab.

I'm looking for the base fittings 7/8" tube. The one's on the boat are 2 3/4" and I cannot find anything besides 3" ( I did find one from Sea dog but it is not a perfect rectangle.

I have ordered and received

Seachoice Square Base Hand Rail Fittings; Investment cast 316 stainless steel or chrome plated zamak
SKU: SCP 37901...

Sea Dog 286190-1 Rectangular Base Rail Fitting, 90° (these actualy fit but will not totally cavewr the old perfect rectangles that were there.

Anyone have a source for 2 3/4" fittings?

Thanks!
Jason

Thanks for link, lots of nice stuff in that ebay store. But I didn't find a base that would work.

I did however find a company called Railmakers Inc and they have a base plate that measures correctly. So come Monday I will give them a call.

Jason, I don't know where in PA you reside, but there is a company G.G. Schmitt & Sons in Lancaster. They have manufactured SS boat rails and such for at least 50 years and are still in business. They did anything and everything Trojan, and may have picked up Carver after they bought Trojan? Maybe they could help.

I live in MD, about 45min south of Lancaster. I will add them to my list to call. Thanks for the info!

I'm on the Susquehanna/upper Chesapeake right by Garrett Island. Usually boat at Battery Island.

An update,

Tried railmakers, they can make them from scratch, but want $45 a piece! :censored:

ALso called, G.G. Schmitt & Sons they have not had that size in stock since 2003.

Still striking out, if anyone has any other ideas or options besides drilling new holes, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

Can you post a picture of the fitting you're looking for?

Hi Here is a pic of the ladder from the swim platform to the aft deck. ALso a pic of the aft deck and the base rail fittings.

Both of these are the elusive size I have been looking for.

Well, if custom made to order are $45 each, I think I would think about changing out what I could with a newer version moving around what I had that was still good. Now if you are looking for several replacements that may be a problem or just plan on changing them all out over time? But by the looks of that broken one, you may have an issue getting them apart!
