Kidde’s Fire Extinguisher Recall

Postby Helmsman » November 10th, 2017, 12:52 pm

https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2017/kidde ... charge-and

These are on a lot of boats out there. Found this on the great loop forum. If you have these model numbers Kidde will replace them free of charge.

Hope the link works, but if not go to the cpsc.gov site and look for recalls in 2017.

Ah u beat me to this one. Looks like everyone better pull theirs and get the new ones before kiddie claims chapter 11 and we are all SOL! 1973 to 2017 is a lot of extinguishers!

I found one of six fire extinguishers being recalled. It was in the kitchen at home. If you search Kidde Fire extinguisher recall, and pick the Kidde site that is one of the search results, you will have the ability to input the info from your fire extinguishers and the site will tell you if yours is being recalled.

I submitted 5 models that were on their recall list. One was the small kitchen one with the pop-up indicator, and 4 were the normal boat ones (1A10BC). Everything on the website went fine.

I got one FedExed to me, and it was a replacement for one of the 1A10BC. - but I'm not sure which one, as I had three different models. However, that same day I got an email saying they wanted to confirm that the ones I'd submitted were really being recalled. The email showed pictures of the 'pull pin' and said ONLY the vertical pull-pin versions were being recalled, not the horizontal 'pull pin' version of the 1A10BC models (but the push-button are separate and are being recalled). All of my 1A10BC have horizontal 'pull pins'. This was not on the website anywhere when I submitted mine.

So, I'm waiting to see what happens. Will I get 3 more of the 1A10BC? Will I get the push-pin replacement? Inquiring minds want to know! ;)
