Window weather strip

Postby Rocket09 » May 12th, 2018, 9:50 pm

Hi, I have a Carver 32 1995, and I want to change my window weather strip, most of them have dried out and some pieces are missing.

I have found the replacement but how can we take out the old ones ? I have tried with a knife, screen driver with no succes. They are in some kind of groove within the window, I have attached some pictures.

Thanks

You have to pull it out. Its in a track and I do not think you will be able to reinstall new in the track, its a PITA! I found and purchased my new stuff with 3m tape on it and stuck it onto the track. The only way I could see to re-track it was to take the window frame track apart and since its welded it didn't look to be an option. Good luck with ur project!

An after thought. If you can find the replacement weather strip with the plastic backer that goes into the window frame track, I guess you could use a dremil tool to remove a portion of the frame track lip to give you a starting point to insert the new weather strip and feed a pre cut section into the frame.

You can get the weather stripping from Taylor made systems. I just replaced all strips on 1994 Mariner 330. 264 feet of it was $376. Not cheap, but windows are like new

Perhaps because that's the manufacturer? http://www.schlegel.com/eu/en/catalogue_item/SchlegelPolyBondPBWovenBrushPileSeals/

They seem to have several different styles. Do you guys have pictures of what you installed?
