Gauges

Postby pepmyster » July 3rd, 2018, 9:37 pm

Hey boaters!!!! Wondering if anyone has ever removed the front lens of any of their gauges. On my 360 sports sedan, I would love to clean the lens. Wondering before I start if they are screwed on or If I have to disassemble them. Thanks in advance!

Usually the trim ring is pressed on. I have removed one once before - a long time ago - and it was a pretty painstaking process to try and get it loose without damaging the ring so much that I couldn't get it back on. Took a while, but I did get it fixed. (on that one, the needle actually came detatched from the stem)

Just removed the front dash with the gauges. The lens is moulded onto the gauge itself, I understand for moisture. The lens is not to be removed, the outer lip of the lens is moulded onto the gauge. Cool. This makes something for my shopping list, I really want the white backed gauges. Just sharing what I saw.

I like white also. I do not have many gauges but did swap out the ones I had to white background with chrome bezel. Went with the KUS brand mostly because they looked great and were rather cheap. Found them on ebay FYI. 4 gas gauges and a rudder indicator to be exact. Normally marine gauges have separate screwed on ring terminals for each wire in the back which are a pita to work with, the KUS brand has a watertight plug with wires which IMHO is the way to go. Also there is normally a screwed on u bracket which hold the gauge in place to the dash via 2 nuts, the KUS has a large plastic ring nut you simply tighten down which sandwiches it to the dash. You can see them in my pictures.

As you know, I always consider your opinions. If you have the link for these babies, please link. I just looked at them, they have a great look! I don't know if they have a quad gauge . Need 2 of them , oil , fuel , temp, gas.

Hmmm, multi gauges are a little more difficult to source. I suggest you take a look at Great Lakes Skipper, find the multi gauge you like and then see if the matching single gauges you need are still available. I think Faria is the only show around any more, believe Teleflex quit the gauge business. https://greatlakesskipper.com/boat-gaug ... i-function

Teleflex in principal is still in the gauge game but they're under Sierra now.

Most gauges are factory sealed to prevent from moisture and can't be disassembled, good luck.
