355 AC/MY Side aft Window Rubber

Postby mjk1040 » September 18th, 2018, 7:33 am

The aft side windows have a black rubber wedge that friction fits around these windows. The rubber has shrunk over time and thus we have loss the top piece. I do not see this part listed in the 355 Carver Parts Manuel and was wondering if anyone has ordered this from Taylor or some where else, what's it called or do you have a part number to give to Taylor?

Mike, have you tried contacting Carver for a part number you can pass on to Taylor Made or who ever the OEM was? Are you talking about a screw cover strip or the seal around the fixed pane? Can you post a pic?

Hi Mike. I had contacted Taylor Made regarding the vinyl strip that fits in the channel of the forward window on my Mariner.
The product also experienced 'shrinkage' on my boat. I spoke with Donna at Taylor Made and they call it 'screw cover' vinyl.
They quoted $160.00 plus $25.00 shipping for a roll of it.

Well the best I can tell its call glazing vinyl or glazing rubber. This goes around the aft fixed side window and may be called screw cover vinyl? How many feet are you getting for $185.00? Going to have to get a sample piece out and take a picture and send it to Taylor. Do we have her email address?

Got a part number and sent a photo to Taylor, Taylor found the manufacture and low and behold it's no longer available!

Just a thought here as I had a similar dilemma on my previous boat. Ended up buying really big o ring material or at least that is what it looks like. Actual name is sponge cord. Pushed/squeezed it into the cavity and it came out even nicer than the factory piece. Worth a shot.

Went to the local hydraulic seal place where they could easily get the size and length I needed. FYI, the trim I replaced looked very similar to yours. This is what it looks like. http://therubbercompany.com/products/ne ... onge-cord/

Hans, looks to be our best option at this time. Guess I'll have to figure out what diameter I need.

We have a 40' Carver 400 - same window seals/window trim that needs replacing, did anyone have any luck finding a replacement?
