I’ve had 3 larger twin engine boats, 35,37 and 38 and never felt the need

Re: Bow thrusters
How difficult it is to repair really depends on the unit. I wouldn't say they're difficult to repair but can be a pain to access sometimes. Some brands are easier to get parts for than others, especially if it's the Volvo QL brand as parts for those have been discontinued for some time and are now mostly unavailable or very difficult to source.

Re: Bow thrusters
Regarding the 'need' for a thruster, I do believe that fact is dependent on your situation. This is my first boat with a thruster but she is also my first boat with a 'high windage' profile. At my home port the thrusters have proved invaluable, especially when the ebb current is ripping and the afternoon southwesterly's are blowing!
