Carver 506 water faucet handles

Postby jfloyd1010 » August 17th, 2019, 12:42 pm

Hi,
I have a leaking water faucet in the aft cabin tub of my 506 MY. I cannot find a way to remove the handle for the cold water. Has anyone done this before ? In my house, I have removed the faucet handles by removing a top cover piece and then unscrewing the handle. I cannot find a top cover piece to remove here,,, See picture below for the style.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks,
Jim

Looks awfully similar to one I had at home a while back. If it is the same, the top pewter colored cap screws off by hand to reveal a screw underneath.
Cheers, Hans

Well, I've tried unscrewing it in both directions with a Robogrip wrench...with no luck so far. Just stripping the crap out of it. I'm sure its been on there since 2001, maybe I'll spray some lube penetrant on it...

I really can't say for sure but they come off somehow..... if you have a magnifying glass, have a real close look at the top of the tap like Hans said, there may be a groove to get a small thin screwdriver in to pop it off.

Funny looking at the pic earlier they looked familiar, couldn't put my finger on it but there in our boat , all the cabinet and drawer pulls have that exact same shape/look and coloring.....

I know not much help heh......... :beergood:
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

FYI - I have success. The top pewter piece does NOT come off. Seemed like more of a compression fit when I turned it hard as if still turning it on. The whole knob comes off. See pics below.

I found the company that manufactured the part and still sells spares: https://supergrifparts.com/
