From old to new;Wash, polish, wax?

Thanks, Fred. Haven't done much yet, but pleased with what I have done. (just the transom beneath my name decal, pictured in another post)

I started with the 3M Perfect-It. Works well, but expensive for a small amount. A nearby marine store carries a different 3M buffing compound at half the cost. The descriptions sound very similar: 3M RUBBING COMPOUND QUART SUPER DUTY 123340

Any experience with it? I'll probably try it when the Perfect-It runs out.........

The Super Duty is more coarse but works fine. If you have swirl you may then want to try perfect it 2. Then a good polymer wax.
