Postby frankptam » August 28th, 2022, 4:39 pm

Hello, We lost the strike plate for an aft cockpit door. Does anyone know where I can find one? Thanks, Frank

Are you talking about the "wing" doors that lead from the aft cockpit forward along the side of the boat? Do you have a pic of the part you are referring to? I'm having trouble picturing it.

Yes those are the doors that I'm referring to.

Is that on the door itself or on the door frame? We have a 2002 396 and have a much different latch setup. On ours the door frame has a "male" strike plate that engages with a "female" latch on the door. Here are some pics from our survey day of our setup. Yes I realize the frame looks just awful :-( - but at least you can see the kind of latch/strike plate we have.

Gotcha - I don't know about an exact replacement, but if you take the one you have to hardware stores (big box and/or local) you may be able to find a stainless steel strike plate that has matching holes. Then just replace them both so they match! :-) But I am guessing you probably already considered that. Good luck! I still am surprised by the difference in the latch mechanisms between our boats. But with all the weird stuff I have found on ours I wouldn't be surprised if our doors had been replaced at some point!
