Icer-Ette Model 85 Ice Maker Inop

Postby Mikwallace » September 2nd, 2022, 11:33 pm

We bought a 1998 405 Aft Cabin and during the Survey the inspector could not confirm the ice maker was operational because of a fresh water pump issue. Knowing this when we bought the boat, I figured since the aluminum plate below the ice tray was cold that at least the compressor was functional. After bringing the boat back to our home dock, a three day journey, I determined the causal factor was an inoperative cooling fan motor. I removed the fan motor and tested it and sure enough it was not working. After a little research I also found the fan motor was not the original and the motor and fan had been replaced at some point. I ordered a replacement motor and fan from Boatman’s I-net Marine and received it promptly. I replaced the motor and fan, about a 1-hour job, and now it works like new.

On to the next project!

Hmm? The picture loaded 90* rotated, will have to figure that out, too!

Thanks for posting......great investigational skills......

Yhe rotation has to do with how you were holding the phone when you took the original.....that orientation is coded and some programs pick that up and post the original way. Find out what is up for your phone camera......at least that is how I understand it.... :-O
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.

When we bought our 355, it was the same deal. Compresser ran but no ice. I bought and installed a new ice tray and timer. I worked great.
Then I thought, I am never going to put ice from the potable water tank or from my dockside water into anything I drink.
It provides maybe 10lbs of ice per day. So I pulled it and installed an isotherm fridge. It holds at least 36 can and will freeze them if turned low enough even in mid 90's heat.
Best thing I ever did.

What model did you go with? We are looking to replace our icemaker too. Thanks!
