LAUNCH!

Postby tonyiiiafl » April 27th, 2023, 7:33 pm

Today was launch day. I wanted to bribing her home to my marina, but storage marina said they did not finish their work. So reluctantly I agreed to let them finish up so I wouldn’t need to take over their work. Leaks checked for by the yard, and in we went and into a slip. Admiral and I went back 3 hours later as I always want to check things, and i was surprised to see the port shaft dripping, and the starboard with a good steady stream. In 3 hours, there was 5” in the starboard engine bilge. I called the emergency number and staff responded right away. They tightened up the starboard one. The port one was going to get tightened for the night too, but they only had the packing and gland nut finger tight. No, it shouldn’t have happened, but I do know that shaft stuffing boxes need to be tightened when in water with shafts turning. Anyway, we are in, shore power works great and fo now no leaks. They will finish up their work in teh next couple days and we will be heading home some afternoon next week.

I was putting up the bimini and saw some zippers need restitching…….I am so glad I have my Sailrite LSZ as I can stitch the zippers this weekend instead of being at the mercy of a canvas person.

Rain coming up here too, and still pretty cold but it's just a matter of time man. Soon we'll be complaining it's too hot :-O Either way, it's going to be a great summer

Going to the boat for the first time this morning. Have a guy polishing/waxing the boat since yesterday. Going to start some smaller projects and start summerizing along with water fill/flush/sanitize to get ready for a launch around the 16th or so. Probably going to need to freshen up the antifouling also. Starting to think/dream boat 24/7 :-D
Cheers, Hans

I am about 80% complete with applying wax on top of compound job finished a week ago. Waiting on RV parked next to me to move out. Then bottom paint touch up, probably get that done today. Finally, switch out water pump impellers, and ready to splash. Hope the transport guy has time to get to dock. Still chilly/rainy here so no rush. High today about 45, rain off and on for next 3 days. Warmer temps should be coming May 5. Saw the first boat at my marina this morning on webcam. Must be a newbie getting a little ahead of theirselves. I will target May 10 to the 12th. 8-) er
