Anchor Rode Washdown Hose
I would like to install a chain 'wash down' hose when weighing the anchor on my 2005 Mariner.
I am thinking of tapping into the line that feeds the sink on the bridge deck. I figure that I'll put in a 'T' fitting and then bring it to a valve under the forward 'rumble seat' featured on this model.
My questions for the crew:
a. Do you know what size inside diameter is utilized on our Carver water lines?
b. Any thoughts or ideas from anyone who has already tackled this project?
Thanks,
Dennis

Re: Anchor Rode Washdown Hose
While that is definitely better than having mud build up in your anchor locker, we have found we frequently use a LOT of water to wash the mud (sometimes VERY sticky mud) off our chain. If we were only using our freshwater supply we would be at marinas refilling our water tanks often.
You might want to consider if there is a raw water (sea water) connection you can tap off to use. That way you'd have unlimited washdown water available. But it definitely is a bigger project since you'll probably need a dedicated washdown pump and all that goes with powering it and running the water connections.
Our 396 has both raw water and fresh water connections in the anchor locker. We use the raw water for the actual washdown, then hit the chain inside the locker with a quick freshwater rinse to knock off some of the salt water residue.
Definitely a bigger project, but if you plan on staying out of marinas as much as possible, you will probably burn through your fresh water pretty fast using it as an anchor washdown source.
Good luck!!
