Head blower fan replacement.

Postby Hoplite808 » June 22nd, 2023, 7:16 am

I have a 1988 3227 convertible. The head is supposed to have a blower fan. I removed the grill mounted on the starboard hull amidship below the rub rail and found the squirrel cage fan has seized which is why it doesn’t work. I’ve looked at it every which way and short of ripping the entire head apart to remove the entire bulkhead it’s mounted in I can’t figure out how one is supposed to access this for replacement or repair. Can anyone share some experience please that might help me to repair this.

In that vintage Carver was pretty good about putting in access mechanisms with screw-in panels to get to stuff. I'd be surprised if you had to rip out much to get to it.

I just wrote up a topic on the same issue. At least on our 3067, I believe access is behind the drawer:

Did you ever get to the fan? If so, what did you end up replacing with?
