Sealant to seal rubber /neoprene boot to au

Postby tonyiiiafl » October 30th, 2023, 6:51 pm

Season 2 for my Side Shft bow thruster. It is by far the best improvement I ever installed. Customer service is the ost paramount I have ever encountered. I replaced a couple of bands this weekend. WHen I did, it appears the cables loosened up where they connected to the thruster. To tighten, I had to pry the neoprene boots (There is one on top of another. off of the thruster motor to get a wrench on the nuts. Side Shift has been so gracious to me. Cant say enough great about the company. Anyway they are sending me new neoprene boots. I wil need to slide them over the cable, and then use marine adhesive to put between the motor and the boot. What would you all use? Side shift said the use Silkaflex, but any good sealant wil work, like 4200 or even 5200/ So, fire away with what you would use.

I would not use 5200.

Tony, my advice, use what they recommend.
The above is strictly my opinion always based on years of doing...remember to support local business , it pays back.
