Need help with Tides StrongSeal hose routing

Postby anothernewb » June 27th, 2016, 3:37 am

Can ANYONE with dripless packing and gas motors tell me where the hoses for the raw water to lube the seals hooks up to the engines? I've contacted Tides Marine and they gave me a list of where they recommend the hoses be connected. I was hoping a fellow carver owner could tell me where they hooked them up.

Clint,

Unfortunately, we don't have any information as to where they would have connected it. All we can tell you is that we recommend the following places in this order of preference.

1. Hose Tee: In-Line between the heat exchanger and riser. (as close to the heat exchanger as possible).
2. Hose Tee: In-Line between the oil cooler and heat exchanger.
3. Hose Tee: In-Line between the water pump and the oil cooler.
4. Drain Plug: Hose barb in the heat exchanger.
5. Drain Plug: Hose barb in the oil cooler (only if oil cooler is on the pressure side of the water pump). The bore should be at least .200".
6. Drain Plug: Hose barb in the back of the water pump. Be sure the drain is on the pressure side of the pump.

Pretty common to hook up to a line at an exhaust manifold as mentioned in #1. Is this a new install?

This isn't a new install. My problem is that I took the boat apart 6 months ago and can't figure it out. The port side is connected to the exhaust riser then there is a crossover hose that runs to the starboard seal and I can't figure out where to connect the starboard feed line.

Port side riser---------seal---------seal----------?starboard side?

Is the pressure off of the riser enough for the seal?

Should be same spot of one of the risers on the other engine.
