X2 on the Rotella 15-40. Rotella is aimed at the diesel market, with higher bearing pressures and temps than the typical gas auto engine. It works very well on V-8 marine engines. Instead of zinc, consider adding some molybdenum disulfide (MoS or moly) to your oil sometimes. It plates the wear points and provides an extra level of protection. 3-4 ozs of Dow/Molycote M Gearguard added to new engine oil when changed will greatly help internal lubrication at key points like cams, rockers, and chains. You don't need it on every oil change - every 2-3 times will work. M GearGuard is an industrial lubricant intended for harsh or severe gear applications, but it works well when added to engine oil at reduced levels. Carver actually recommended the use of this product in v-drives, where it reduces noise and heat. Don't use it in transmissions. You can find a dealer or see specs at:

Thanks Capt. John,
I just did a change and went with Lucas 15w-40 Magnum. Had all the properties that I was looking for and will see how it works out. The first things I noticed was quieter engines and a slight increase in oil pressure at the gauges. I will keep the moly disulfide in mind.
