So the sketchy part in all this is they just put in a new to the boat motor... and it has just had the timing advance module changed to the Denso replacement... I have no idea what year the motor is... not totally sure they know.

Where does everyone do their online shopping for this type of stuff?

if the engine has serial numbers on the rocker covers that should work for you, no matter what block is underneath them.
When you get the wires, compare ends and lengths before you get the new ones dirty.

another option is to mark the distributor cap at each connection and each plug with a number pull the wires and match them up at autozone.
Some may say only use marine wires, but ignition suppression wires are wires. Mercury doesn't make any wires.
