How to clear EVC fault codes

Postby rhoclan » May 28th, 2014, 10:55 am

We recently purchased a 2007 Carver 560 Voyager. Immediately after transport, everything seemed to be working properly. We have Volvo D12-675's. We now have 2 fault codes showing up on the EVC for the port engine: engine oil low and coolant level low. We checked both and the levels are fine but the fault codes and alarm won't go away. Does anyone know how to clear the fault codes? The manuals indicate that fixing the problem indicated by the alarm will automatically clear the faults but there isn't really a problem with the fluid levels. We don't have an volvo dealers in the area.

You have to get in touch with a Volvo Diesel tech. They have a "scanner" that reads codes and can erase them.

I had 2 codes on my 506 that I had to have cleared. Last poster is bang on, the only way to clear them is thru the data port for the ECM. My Volvo tech (the ONLY Volvo tech worth the crown anywhere in the Northeastern US and Eastern Canada who is worthy of the title) cleared them.

I know this thread is from a long time ago but I am having a similar problem with my 506. I have an alarm going off with a code to begin with was the battery which was a charge issue we replaced the alternator which did check out to be toast and still have the alarm going off. After I ran it for an hour with some time up on plane the alarm finally went out but diagnose button still flashing. Icon in code window changed to temperature from battery at start up. But all temps are good and ran like a champ. So I guess I will have to take a trip to my Volvo tech to clear out???

That's the best thing to do, that way while he's in there he can see if there's anything else recorded that should be addressed. He should also be able to look up the software version you have and see if there were any major updates to correct a serious issue you haven't experienced yet but may rear it's ugly head later. Never hurts to be proactive while you're already there.

You are right about that Viper. But I did have them install all up dates when we purchased the boat last year during the 500hour maintenance procedures. Could certainly be some more over the past year.
