As for you not having the EVC system, look into the Volvo Penta Quick Connect Interface. It will allow you to hook up and read data on a MFD or bluetooth to a device, if your engines are compatible. I am looking into it myself for the bluetooth feature as one of my displays is starting to go dark and I don't like the price of a new one at $2,900.
Please keep us posted with your RPM drop issue, very interested in the outcomes.
