By the time they get here they are generally the remnants of a tropical depression. Still, it makes for a rough time on the Great Lakes when it does happen.

Best of luck if you are in the area. I'd be doing some long term planning, but getting the hell outa here with the unreplacable things. And take lotsa pictures and videos of your place, for when you have to debate with the insurance company.

Well, I wouldn't say "don't have to be concerned with"... just maybe "not that often"....
You are right we can get hammered here too. Think Edmund Fitzgerald, not that long ago. They do call them Great Lakes Hurricanes. Fortunately they are few and far between.
