1986 3607 Aft Cabin Windows

Postby swodog6289 » May 20th, 2014, 9:07 am

Anyone got the 411 on replacement/repair on the smaller windows on the boats? I recently bought this boat and while it is very nice and well maintained, there are several of the plastic window pieces that are broken.

Where can you get replacement parts?

Thanks.

Contact Carver and they can help find the part number as well as point you in the right direction. In essence this is what Kenny was asking you to do, he is a longtime employee of a marina/boat sales operation that used to be one of Carver's largest dealers.

The original port holes were made by Bomar which is part of Pompanette. You can go right to Pompanette.com and search their site and actually buy from them yourself. Carver typically won't have any info on boats of that age, but you can try. When contacting Pompanette, make sure you have measured the ports you want to service as the lenses are specific to each size.

I recently bought 3 of the complete windows from Defender for about $40 dollars less than from pompanette. I goes 3 new lenses from West Marine.

I just purchased 4 complete portlights from Defender. They were originally Bomar, bought out by Pompanette, I believe. Anyhow, the original part number was Bomar's G715-AD17, Defender part number is 900510 and they sell for $147.19 each, complete with screens. However, these are a little different than the original ones on my 1981 3607. These have 1/2" bosses on the bottom of the frames for the water drains. You will need to cut out for these on the hull when replacing, otherwise they will not fit the factory cutouts, at least that's the way mine is.
Best of luck.

You have to know which size you're dealing with. You can search for them on both the Defender and the Pompanette site. When I replaced a couple of mine years ago, I had to cut off an extra hinge tab that was on the new ones... mine only had 4, the new ones had 5.

Here is another site you could use to order them. Has a lot of detail and pictures on the sizes and different parts (like the seals): http://shop.sailboatowners.com/gray.php
