Thanks . everyone. KM1125's post is what I'm going with, because the state registration doc says 29 1/2 feet. It doesn't sound expensive, but I may take people across the border for hire which makes it a commercial vessel, and the decal then costs over $400.

Dusty, if your taking people for hire you need a USCG captains license and commercial insurance. Don't get yourself in a bind.

Thanks Tom. I actually have a current master's license ,1600 gross tons oceans.
